Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, we will remember and recognize those who have made an unparalleled sacrifice serving our country. They are the ones to which we owe the freedoms we enjoy today. I am thankful to be from a place like South Mississippi that honors and truly cherishes the men and women who wear our country’s uniform.

We must also remember the families of fallen soldiers and the sacrifice they too have made and continue to live with day in and day out. Last week, a ceremony was held at Camp Shelby for our Gold Star Families, who have lost a loved one while serving. During the ceremony they unveiled the first Gold Star Families memorial monument to be placed in the state of Mississippi.

That is what makes America so unique, the willingness of brave Americans to freely answer their nations call to fight tyranny wherever it exists and protect our principles and God given freedoms.

Let us always; honor and remember our greatest of heroes, uphold our commitment to the family members of our fallen, fulfil our sacred promises to all of our veterans, and provide our support to those thousands of Americans still fighting for our peace and security abroad.

As your Congressman, I pledge to always do my part to honor the heroism and sacrifice of generations of Americans, those who are serving today, and those who desire to serve in the future.
